Dudes…
here is a list of groups and organizations to check out. Some of them are internships others are mission and others are service organizations. I hope that if you are in high school you might consider “the road less traveled.” I also encourage you to check out some of these groups and organizations for ideas and inspirations and to see all the possibilities. Don’t get locked in to the easy road. I wish someone would have told me this!
Click on the title to link up to the web site of each organization!
Mission Year :: Mission Year is a year long urban ministry program focused on Christian service and discipleship. We take teams of young people, place them in an area of need, and help them to serve people and create community. We are committed to the command of Jesus to “love God and love people,” by placing the needs of our neighbors first and developing committed disciples of Christ with a heart for the poor. You live on your own with 6 other people, you have church responsibilities, outreach responsibilities, bible study responsibility and house responsibilities. It looks awesome but it’s pricey so you have to start praying and preparing early… but don’t let that stop you. Walk by faith and not by sight… this is a life changing and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!!!
220i :: 220i is a two-semester, ten-month program that runs from September through June. In each semester, our interns will have the opportunity to minister to thousands of young people both locally and abroad. Through powerful teaching and intense training of spirit, mind, body, the graduating interns will be launched into a realm of ministry they never thought possible. It’s about the cross and abandoning yourself to the Lord. It’s about reaching the world and living the Father’s vision. It’s surrendering to God’s authority and removing the limits. It’s conquering those things that you always thought were impossible and becoming an excellent leader who will change the world!
the Honor Academy :: Don’t want to travel far but want to go far in this life? Check out the Honor Academy. Honor Academy is similar to 22i but it also has a more physical aspect to it and offers a great opportunity to develop yourself as a leader and servant of the Lord. Check out their website and the videos. I especially to check out the ESOAL challenge if you are looking for something that will challenge your spirit, heart and body!
Eternity Bible College :: I heard about this school from the funder and he’s totally awesome and this is the kind of school that you want to go to if you really want to live it and be put out on the edge and see what you are made of… “Our mission goes beyond education to discipleship. Our desire is that students will not only learn from teachers, but know them. We don’t expect students to observe a healthy church, but to be a critical part of it. We plan to place students in secular settings where their faith is going to be challenged, and walk with them through the battles. At the core of all we do is discipleship. Eternity Bible College isn’t the best college for everyone. Pray and explore. If God leads you here, let’s make every day count.”
EMI :: “Engineering Ministries International (EMI) is a non-profit Christian development organization made up of architects, engineers and design professionals who donate their skills to help children and families around the world step out of poverty and into a world of hope.” This organization offers internship and volunteer opportunities but it does require at least three years of college education so it can be like a mid-school of after school goal for many of you.
Peace Corp :: “Since 1961, the Peace Corps has shared with the world America’s most precious resource—its people. Peace Corps Volunteers serve in 74 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Collaborating with local community members, Volunteers work in areas like education, youth outreach and community development, the environment, and information technology.” This is a great organization to serve the world through. One catch though… you have to be a US citizen.
Christ for the Nations :: I don’t know much about CFN but one of the best Bible teachers/preachers (scott crenshaw) went there so I’ll vouch for this school but what really sold me was the videos I saw of their summer events (youth for the nations) and the amazing program that they put on to bring students to the Lord.
Chi Alpha (XA) :: Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a Christian campus ministry on universities throughout the United States and around the world. We are a movement of college-age men and women earnestly following Jesus. We will reconcile students to Christ, transforming the university, the marketplace and the world. We will accomplish this by creating a Spirit-empowered community reflecting our philosophy of ministry and core values. XA rules and i’ve been part of it for a couple of months at UH. It has really transformed and helped me to know the heart of Christ better.

If you know of any great organizations that are serving out in this world let me know so i can add some resources to this site. I hope that this will encourage you and open your eyes to a world of opportunities that are out there outside of the regular “go to school get a job” routine! Peace of Christ be upon you.
